Officers were called to the 800 block of Charleston Greene in Malvern for a well-being check around 11:20 a.m., according to the Chester County District Attorney's Office.
That's when a person pulled out a firearm and there was a struggle, police said.
An officer shot at the suspect, killing them, the DA's office said.
Further information about the shooting, including the identity of the suspect, was not immediately available.
Authorities say this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
